Dayo Amusa pardons detained TikToker over HIV allegation, shares test result

Actress Dayo Amusa has dropped a case against a TikToker who accused her of being HIV positive.

In July, the 42-year-old vowed to make a scapegoat of the content creator after he spread the false claim online. She lamented that her family and friends had read the lies and questioned why bloggers publish unverified information.

On Monday night, Dayo announced in a video that she had reported him to the police but later chose forgiveness after learning he had just lost his mother, was only 27 years old and after meeting his relatives.

“I did promise to make him a scapegoat, which I did,” she said, “but I realised he just lost his mum… I got to meet his relatives – his uncle, the lawyer.”

She captioned the post: “CASE CLOSED. To err is human, to forgive is divine… Let’s be guided.”

The TikToker, identified as Olaoluwa Segun, revealed he spent two days in detention at Yaba Panti. He described the cell as overcrowded, with inmates sleeping on cold tiles near a pit latrine. According to him, one cell leader recognised him from TikTok and protected him from harsher treatment.

He later thanked Dayo for forgiving him, saying if not, “I would have been there for a long time.”

Segun also apologised publicly, admitting he misrepresented a 2019 HIV awareness video in which the actress urged people to know their status.

To further clear doubts, Dayo on Tuesday shared an updated HIV test result dated September 15, 2025, with the caption, “TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN.” She used the post to encourage Nigerians to get tested, stressing that knowing one’s status can save lives and reduce stigma.
