Afrobeats star Davido is celebrating what he called the “best day of my life” after reuniting with his first daughter, Imade, amid a protracted custody battle with her mother, Sophia Momodu.
On Wednesday, the 31-year-old singer shared photos on his Instagram Story showing a joyful moment with nine-year-old Imade.
One image shows father and daughter smiling for the camera.
He captioned the post, “Best day of my life,” reflecting the emotional significance of the reunion.
Another captures them on a FaceTime call with Davido’s second daughter, Hailey.
One of the pictures showed Imade with Davido’s uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.
This development comes amid an ongoing custody dispute between Davido and Sophia.
In April 2024, Davido filed a lawsuit at the Lagos State High Court seeking joint custody and unrestricted access to Imade.
He claimed that Sophia was deliberately preventing him from seeing their daughter and had turned parenting into an opportunity for financial extortion. He also pointed out that he had covered Imade’s school fees and provided accommodation for both mother and child.
Sophia, however, countered Davido’s claims, stating in her response that she denied the singer access to her body, not to their daughter.
She alleged that Davido had abandoned Imade since July 2022 and had not met his financial responsibilities since then.
She also raised concerns about his fitness as a parent, citing his celebrity lifestyle and the trauma from the death of his son in 2022 as reasons for her objection to joint custody.
