Afrobeats singer Davido has dismissed claims that a fan slapped him on the head during his visit to Warri.
On Monday, a video of the father of six being hit on the head trended on social media with netizens alleging that he was attacked by a fan. In the clip, Davido was guided into a building by security as crowds of fans serenaded him.
An X user who shared the video captioned it, “Warri people no get joy oo. See dem sl@p Davido for head.”
Reacting to the post, Davido wrote, “Mumu that was my security .. hit me by mistake .. saddist.”
The 31-year-old’s clarification comes after several online debates about the video. Many had initially believed the superstar was assaulted by one of the excited fans.
Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, is currently one of Africa’s most celebrated artists. He released his fifth studio album 5ive on April 18, following the success of his 2023 project Timeless.
