Afrobeats superstar Davido has reacted to the resignation of his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Taking to X on Tuesday, he reacted with a simple post on, “Jeje…”.

Many fans interpreted it as a call for calm amid the political drama.

Governor Adeleke officially quit the PDP via a letter dated November 4, 2025, addressed to the chairman of Ward 2 in Ede North.

In the letter titled “Resignation of my membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP),” he said, “Due to the current crisis of the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my Membership … with immediate effect.”

He thanked the party for providing him a platform — first as Senator representing Osun West, and later as Governor.

The resignation disrupted the PDP’s planned governorship primary for Osun State. State party chairman Sunday Bisi said the primary was postponed because Adeleke was no longer interested in contesting, citing internal party crisis.

Adeleke has been Governor since November 27, 2022, after defeating incumbent Gboyega Oyetola by 403,371 votes to 375,027. Before that, he served as Senator (Osun West) following the death of his brother, the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke.

For years, Adeleke had dismissed rumours of leaving the PDP.

In July, he said, “I was elected on the platform of the PDP, and so shall I remain in the party. I’m not going anywhere.”

The governor’s exit leaves the PDP scrambling for a credible candidate ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
