Music star Davido performed to a large crowd at the official kick-off concert for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Rabat, Morocco.
The event took place at the Olm Souissi Fan Zone hours before the tournament began on Sunday, December 21. Davido was introduced by his hypeman, Special Spesh, and was received with loud cheers as he stepped on stage.
The singer, whose real name is David Adeleke, performed a selection of songs spanning his career. His set included early hits such as ‘Aye’ and ‘Fall,’ as well as popular tracks like ‘If,’ ‘Unavailable’ and ‘With You.’
The concert featured several artistes from different parts of the continent and beyond. Davido shared the stage with Moroccan American rapper French Montana, Comorian singer Says’Z and Moroccan performers Douaa Lahyaoui and Lartiste.
The performance was part of activities marking the opening of the Africa Cup of Nations, which is being hosted by Morocco. The tournament will run for several weeks and features 24 national teams competing for the continental title.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles are drawn in Group C and are expected to begin their campaign against Tanzania on December 23.
Davido rose to prominence in 2012 following the release of ‘Dami Duro.’ He has since released several albums, including A Good Time, A Better Time, Timeless and 5ive, and runs his own record label, Davido Music Worldwide.
