Afrobeats star Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, has announced that he is joining the Accord Party, following the political move of his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Davido shared on his X account that he will be in Osogbo on Wednesday to collect his Accord Party membership card at Imole House. He wrote, “I will be live in Osun to pick up my Accord Party membership card at Imole House, Osogbo.”

Governor Adeleke formally joined the Accord Party earlier this month after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The governor cited leadership challenges at the national level as his reason for leaving PDP. He said, “I love PDP, but crisis made me leave for Accord Party”, emphasizing that the move would help protect his administration’s work and continue progress in the state.

After joining Accord Party, Adeleke was cleared by the party’s screening committee and became its candidate for the 2026 Osun governorship election. His defection has reportedly strengthened the party and increased its membership.

Davido’s decision to join the party has attracted public attention, marking a high-profile involvement in Nigerian politics. The singer’s registration is expected to be completed this week in Osogbo, aligning him with his uncle ahead of the 2026 election.
