Afrobeats singer Davido has expressed gratitude to his father, Deji Adeleke, following his public comments on a long running paternity dispute.
Taking to his X page on Thursday, the singer wrote, “Thank you my loving Father … ❤️🙏”
Davido’s message came after Deji addressed journalists at his Lagos home on Wednesday, where he spoke on claims that his son fathered a girl, Anu Adeleke.
The billionaire businessman said DNA tests conducted at multiple hospitals in Lagos confirmed that the child is not Davido’s.
Mr Adeleke explained that he first became aware of the issue in 2014 after receiving a letter from a lawyer in Ibadan. According to him, the letter alleged that Davido had impregnated a woman, Ayo Labinjoh, and abandoned the child. He said the document included photographs of Davido, the woman and the child, as well as the child’s birth certificate.
Adeleke, who said he has 14 grandchildren, noted that he has no problem accepting more grandchildren but insisted that science must determine paternity.
He said, “I have 14 grandchildren, so what will one more do? Is it that I will not be able to afford to do things for her or bring her into my family? I want more grandchildren, but there is science — DNA. If you say you are my granddaughter and science has proven that you are my granddaughter, I would gladly accept you.”
He also claimed that controversial blogger Kemi Olunloyo has impersonated Anu at different times, which he said added to the confusion surrounding the case.
Adeleke maintained that the family relied solely on DNA evidence to resolve the matter and urged the public to be guided by verified facts rather than speculation.
