Daniel Etim-Effiong’s The Herd hits N166.2m in three weeks

Filmmaker Daniel Etim-Effiong has announced that his movie The Herd has grossed N166.2 million at the box office in just three weeks.

Daniel shared the update on Instagram on Monday, posting a film poster that read “THANK YOU! N166.2M” with a caption celebrating the milestone.

“In just over 3 weeks!!!!! Road to 500M let’s go!!!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳 Thank you Nigeria!!!!!!!! 🤩🤩🤩,” he wrote.

The movie, which marks Daniel’s directorial debut, was released in cinemas on October 17. It tells the story of a wedding celebration that turns into a fight for survival after the couple and their guests are attacked by armed men disguised as herdsmen.

The Herd features a star-studded cast including Daniel Etim-Effiong, Genoveva Umeh, Kunle Remi, Mercy Aigbe, Deyemi Okanlawon, Tina Mba, Norbert Young, Linda Ejiofor and Femi Jacobs.

Produced by Toritori Productions and distributed by FilmOne Entertainment, the movie was first showcased at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival’s Marché du Film before its Nigerian release.

Daniel earlier described the film as one that “explores love, betrayal, and resilience in the face of fear,” adding that it was inspired by real stories of courage.
