Dangote Group has responded to reality TV star Phyna Otabor regarding the treatment of her sister, Ruth, who was injured in an accident involving one of the company’s cement trucks.
Phyna shared the company’s latest message on her Instagram story on Friday.
The response read, “We received the medical reports you sent. We are happy your family are also liaising with the medical team handling Ruth. Please note that we are ready to positively consider all options necessary for treatment of Ruth as soon as she is certified fit to travel.”
The development comes days after Phyna accused the company of backtracking on an alleged promise to fly her sister to India for medical attention.
She had earlier said that officials from the company suggested Ruth be moved to Lagoon Hospital before arrangements would be made for her transfer abroad.
However, she claimed that the representative later asked for a medical report confirming that the hospital could not handle her sister’s condition and whether she was fit for a long-distance journey.
The reality TV star further alleged that her communication with the company has since stalled, accusing the Dangote team of trying to outsmart her family.
Phyna explained that her sister, who has been on life support at Lagoon Hospital, suffered a right above-the-knee amputation, damage to her chest, pelvis and lower trunk, crushed reproductive organs, burst bladder, fluid in the lungs, colostomy, tracheostomy, external fixation of the left lower limb and multiple transfusions.
Ruth was involved in an accident on Wednesday, August 21, in Auchi, Edo State, when a Dangote Cement truck ran over her leg.
Dangote Group had earlier said that its senior officials and insurance team visited the accident scene, engaged law enforcement and visited the victim and her family at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital.
The company also stated that it was committed to providing medical care and compensation in line with its welfare policy.
