Billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote has appointed his daughters Halima, Fatima and Mariya to executive positions within the Dangote Group, THISDAY learnt on Monday.
The appointments form part of the group’s succession plan and expansion strategy as it advances toward a $100 billion enterprise by 2030.
Halima takes on the role of Group Executive Director, Dangote Family Office and International Offices (Dubai and London).
She will continue overseeing the development of the Dangote Family Office in Dubai and assume executive supervision of the group’s operations in Dubai and London, with responsibility for governance and coordination of international activities.
Fatima assumes responsibility as Group Executive Director, Commercial Operations – Oil and Gas, overseeing the group’s energy businesses, including Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals, fertiliser operations and WAEP Upstream.
She will also continue to supervise corporate communications, administration, facilities and group procurement.
Mariya steps into the position of Group Executive Director, Commercial Operations – Cement and Foods, leading commercial strategy across the cement and food businesses.
The appointments come as the group pushes forward with its Vision 2030 plan aimed at building a $100 billion enterprise.
In a related development, the Dangote Group announced an agreement with XCMG Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. to acquire construction equipment for projects spanning refining, petrochemicals, agriculture and infrastructure.
The company said the equipment will support the expansion of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals, with refinery capacity projected to rise from 650,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels per day.
It also disclosed plans to increase polypropylene production from 900,000 metric tonnes per annum to 2.4 million metric tonnes per annum, while urea capacity in Nigeria will grow from 3 million to 9 million metric tonnes per annum, in addition to 3 million metric tonnes per annum in Ethiopia.
Production capacity for Linear Alkyl Benzene is expected to reach 400,000 metric tonnes per annum, with additional base oil capacity included in the expansion programme.
The Dangote Group described the partnership and equipment acquisition as a strategic move to strengthen project execution and accelerate its Vision 2030 plan.
