Former Big Brother Naija housemate Daniel Ojo, popularly known as Danboskid, has narrated how he was allegedly robbed at gunpoint on Christmas Eve in Lagos.
In an account shared on social media, the reality TV said the incident happened after he left a fitting appointment in Ikeja and boarded a private vehicle with tinted windows to return home. According to him, the driver claimed there was a fault with the car and diverted towards the Maryland area.
He said the situation escalated on the service lane of the Maryland Highway when the driver suddenly stopped the vehicle, brought out a gun and pointed it at him. He added that a second suspect later emerged from the boot, confirming that the attack was planned.
Danboskid said he was forced at gunpoint to unlock his phone and open his banking applications, after which money was transferred from his accounts to another merchant account. He also said the assailants ordered him to turn off his phone’s location services, remove his Apple ID, wipe the device and hand over his SIM card.
He described the ordeal as lasting more than an hour, during which he was repeatedly threatened with death if he tried to shout or resist. The suspects eventually dropped him near a flyover and drove off.
The former housemate said he walked back to his residence in shock, unable to contact anyone immediately. He added that the experience left him traumatised and fearful, noting that it was his first encounter with a gun.
While grateful to have survived, he warned the public to be cautious when boarding private or unfamiliar vehicles, stressing that tinted windows do not guarantee safety. He also appealed for privacy as he recovers.
Danboskid rose to public attention after his appearance on Big Brother Naija, one of Africa’s most popular reality television shows.
