Director Dammy Twitch has announced his first full length film, marking a new phase in his career beyond music videos.
Bluhouse Studios recently released the official trailer for Call of My Life, a romantic comedy that serves as Dammy Twitch’s feature filmmaking debut. The film stars Uzoamaka Power, Zubby Michael and Andrew Bunting in lead roles. It also features Nkem Owoh, Patience Ozokwor, Beverly Osu, Justin UG and Broda Shaggi.
The story follows Soluchi, played by Uzoamaka Power, a call centre agent struggling to move on after her relationship with Kalu, portrayed by Zubby Michael, ends. During a routine work call, she connects with Eli, played by Andrew Bunting. What begins as a simple conversation gradually develops into something deeper, forcing her to confront her past and reconsider love. The film also includes live musical performances from Johnny Drille and Cobhams Asuquo.
Speaking about his decision to begin with a romance, Dammy Twitch said, “My life has been shaped by love, so choosing a romance story for my first film was instinctive. As it’s my first step into feature filmmaking, I wanted it to reflect my heart. And my heart has always been rooted in love and happiness.”
Producer Blessing Uzzi said the project represents a new direction for the studio following its earlier production, Freedom Way. She described Call of My Life as a film that “is a reminder to believe in love again” at a time when many people feel uncertain about relationships.
Writer and lead actress Uzoamaka Power explained that the idea for the story was influenced by her reflections on different stages of love. She noted that writing and acting in the film required her to stay closely connected to the emotional journey of her character.
Dammy Twitch, whose real name is Oluwadamilola Owolabi, is widely known for directing music videos for leading Afrobeats artistes including Davido and Burna Boy. In 2023, he directed the short film I Hate It Here, which marked his first step into narrative filmmaking.
Call of My Life was shot in Lagos, Abuja and Enugu and is expected to be released in cinemas nationwide later this year.
