Singer Charles Chukwu, known as Crayon, has opened up about his past mental health struggles and how he was able to overcome them.

He shared this during a livestream conversation with Caterefe.

The singer said the experience happened in 2022, adding that it was caused by pressure from family expectations and demands from the music industry. He explained that the situation affected his health and led to long-term therapy before he returned to music.

Crayon said, “In 2022, I had mental health issues from all sort of stress; family, industry, trying to be number one stress. I was hospitalised for a long therapy session, then I came out and dropped Labalaba and Overloading.”

He said after receiving treatment, he was able to return to his career and continue releasing music.

Crayon recently attracted attention on social media after a series of posts on X, formerly Twitter, where he appeared to express frustration with Mavin Records and its leadership.

In the posts, he referred to the label’s founder, Don Jazzy, as “my boy”, a comment that went viral and triggered discussions among fans. He also made remarks directed at senior figures in the label and suggested dissatisfaction with aspects of his career situation.

He further posted “Mavin is going down!!!!!!” which fuelled speculation about his relationship with the label.
