A Federal High Court in Lagos has fixed November 7, for the arraignment of three former employees of Brila FM over alleged fraud and other offences.
Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa fixed the date on Thursday, after the defendants, Akakan Sam, Blessing Ekerete and Anthony Raji, failed to appear in court for arraignment.
The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, filed a five-count charge against the defendants marked FHC/L/530/2025.
The first four counts involve all three defendants and relate to alleged fraud, conspiracy and money laundering.
The fifth count names only Raji and accuses him of transmitting messages on social media platforms, including Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube and X (formerly Twitter), with the intent to bully, threaten, or harass Brila FM founder, Larry Izamoje.
The act was said to have put Mr Izamoje in fear of death, violence, or bodily harm, allegedly contravening Section 24(2)(3)(a & b) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015 (as amended in 2024).
Prosecution counsel S.A. Ogala told the court that the defendants had been served but that the affidavit of service was not yet in the court’s file.
He said he would file the affidavit before the next sitting and that the prosecution would apply for a warrant of arrest if the defendants failed to appear.
Justice Lewis-Allagoa adjourned the case to November 7, for arraignment.
