The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed claims that comedian Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, known as Sabinus, has been declared wanted by the agency.
The commission issued the clarification on Thursday after a viral poster suggested that the skit maker was being sought by the anti graft agency.
In a response shared on its X official page, the EFCC described the claim as false.
The EFCC wrote boldly on the poster, “Fake News” while warning him writing, “ Clout chaser, Stop this now!”
The development follows the spread of unverified content on social media, where public figures are sometimes falsely linked to investigations or criminal matters.
Sabinus, whose real name is Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, is a comedian and content creator known for his online skits. He rose to prominence after winning the best online social content creator award at the 2022 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.
As of the time of this report, Sabinus has not publicly responded to the EFCC’s statement.
