Amos Isah, founder and senior pastor of Prophetic Victory Voice of Fire Ministry in Gwagwalada, Abuja, was met with jubilation from members of his church following his recent return after being taken into police custody over an alleged rape case.
In a video now circulating on social media, Pastor Isah is seen receiving a hero’s welcome, with congregants dancing and celebrating his release.
The scene has sparked outrage online, with many questioning the appropriateness of the celebration in light of the serious allegations against him.
Isah was arrested on June 19 by officers of the Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) following a petition from the family of a 14-year-old girl who accused him of raping her inside his office on May 26.
The girl, a member of the church’s media unit, claimed the pastor gave her N3,000 afterward and threatened to kill her if she spoke out.
Supporters of the pastor insist on his innocence, describing him as a man of God under attack.
Some members have suggested that the accusation is a spiritual test or an attempt to tarnish his image.
His church community has continued to stand by him, holding prayer sessions and offering public support.
Meanwhile, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), through its Women Affairs Secretariat, has vowed to ensure justice for the alleged victim.
The mandate secretary, Adebayo Benjamins-Laniyi, has condemned the attack and pledged the administration’s full commitment to prosecuting the case.
She also warned against the spread of the victim’s image online, calling it a violation of the Child Rights Act and a form of cyberbullying.
Authorities say the survivor is facing serious health issues and remains under medical care.
Deputy commissioner of police Rita Emesim, who heads the Gender Unit, clarified that the case must be tried in a Federal High Court due to its nature and dismissed claims that the suspect was being held without due process.
She noted that efforts were being made to file charges properly to ensure conviction.
As of now, Pastor Amos Isah has yet to issue an official statement addressing the allegations.
