General Overseer of Grace Nation Worldwide Pastor Chris Okafor has announced a temporary step down from his pastoral duties, days after apologising over allegations made by actress Doris Ogala,
The announcement was made during the church’s New Year service on Thursday, with Pastor Okafor explaining that four pastors would take over Sunday services throughout January 2026.
“We have four Sundays in January, so, in the whole of these four Sundays, we would be having Pastor Sylvester, Pastor Kelvin, Pastor Oliver, and Shadrach minister to you and anoint you every Sunday because it’s going to be prophetic Sundays. So, they will be here. While they are here, I will be resting, and it will be time for a personal retreat with God and time for me and my wife to rest because since our wedding we have not rested, we’ve not had time, we have not even done honeymoon,” he said.
Okafor said the decision was motivated by months of continuous work without rest.
He assured members that Sunday services would continue under the other pastors, with a focus on prophetic ministration and prayer.
He also addressed the recent controversies surrounding him, without going into specifics, telling the congregation they would later understand the truth.
“Keep praying, lift your head and your shoulders high, keep advancing. Our God is powerful, our God is giving us victory, and our God is turning around what they meant for evil. He’s turning it around in our favor,” he said.
Okafor urged members to remain committed to their faith and expressed gratitude for their support.
He said he would continue praying for the church during his break and reaffirmed his plan to return by the first Sunday of February.
The development comes after public attention on the pastor’s private wedding and allegations by actress Doris Ogala, who had accused him of ending their relationship despite promises of marriage.
Chris Okafor had earlier apologised to anyone offended by his actions, while disputing most of the claims.
