Content creator Carter Efe and his partner Emmanuella, the mother of his child, are at the centre of a public dispute after conflicting accounts about their relationship surfaced online.
On Sunday, Carter announced on social media that he and Emmanuella had been separated for over a year. He said he has been single for more than 12 months and described the period as a turning point in his life and career. According to him, the relationship negatively affected his mental health, finances and creative output. He also claimed he was denied access to their daughter for three months during that time.
But Emmanuella has publicly disputed his account. In a series of posts on Instagram, she called Carter Efe’s description of their separation “false” and said the way he presented the situation online was confusing and hurtful. She wrote that they had been together only days before his announcement and were intimate just three days earlier.
Emmanuella also addressed issues related to their child, saying that although they share a baby, she has to approach Carter Efe directly for financial support. She accused him of controlling aspects of her life while they were together, including discouraging her from working and isolating her from friends and family.
In her posts, she wrote: “You stopped me from working. I’ve always wanted to become an actress, but Carter doesn’t want that. I had to kill that dream.” She added that she was prevented from taking a job in a hospital because he accused her of planning to have affairs with doctors.
Emmanuella further claimed that her pregnancy was difficult and that Carter Efe physically abused her during that time, saying: “My pregnancy journey was hell. Carter would hit me regardless of my condition, which made me a regular at this particular hospital.” She described being thrown out of the house while pregnant and said hospital staff became familiar with her visits.
The conflicting statements have drawn strong reactions on social media. Some fans and observers have expressed concern about the allegations of abuse and control, while others have debated the public airing of the couple’s private issues.
