Content creator Carter Efe has become the most followed African streamer on Twitch.
The milestone came after his livestream with Afrobeats star Davido on Wednesday drew large viewership and a surge in followers on the platform.
Efe, whose real name is Odahohwo Efe, recorded more than 406,000 followers on Twitch following the event. He surpassed the previous record held by fellow Nigerian creator Shank Comics, whose channel had led the African Twitch charts.
The livestream with Davido peaked at about 83,000 viewers, setting a record for the most-watched Twitch broadcast in Africa. During the session, Efe also became the first African streamer to exceed 20,000 subscribers on the platform.
The stream featured appearances by notable figures, including Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen and the singer’s wife Chioma, after Davido invited them into the conversation. The event drew comments and reactions across social media.
Davido spoke about friendship on the livestream, saying, “I’ve been seeing the relationship between you and Kolu. It’s just as how people laugh at me and Israel… that’s one of my best friends.”
The broadcast included unexpected moments. Content creator Enzo joined the stream and challenged Carter Efe to an improvised boxing match to test his loyalty to Davido’s fan base.
Carter Efe first gained wider public attention through comedy skits and music. He is known for the 2022 song ‘Machala,’ which reached notable chart positions before a dispute over its ownership.
