Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has confirmed that 28 persons were killed in an attack by gunmen in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area.
The governor made this known in a statewide broadcast on Tuesday, following the incident which occurred on Sunday at about 7:30 p.m.
He said the victims were carrying out their activities when the attackers struck.
“Twenty-eight lives were lost and many others were injured,” he said.
Governor Mutfwang said he visited the community with security chiefs and also met victims receiving treatment at Jos University Teaching Hospital.
He said most of the injured are receiving care and that the state government will cover their medical bills.
