Burna Boy’s music ban false, misleading – DJAN

The Deejays Association of Nigeria (DJAN) has denied claims that it banned the music of Nigerian singer Burna Boy following a recent incident involving him and DJ Tunez.

The association described the reports as false and misleading in an official statement on Instagram on Thursday.

DJAN’s national president, Akim Edeh, said the organisation is concerned by the spread of misinformation and advised media platforms to stop circulating the false narrative. The statement said the association did not authorise the use of its logo to support claims of a ban.

In its statement, the association said:
“The Deejays Association of Nigeria (DJAN) has noted with grave concern reports surrounding a recent incident involving a Disc Jockey and Burna Boy. As a body dedicated to the growth and integrity of the entertainment industry, we maintain a firm and unwavering stance against any form of violence or physical confrontation.”

The association also said:
“We are currently monitoring the situation and await the conclusion of any ongoing investigations. DJAN remains committed to fostering a healthy and collaborative environment between all practitioners and performing artists within the music space. We urge the public to remain calm and allow the relevant authorities to investigate the matter.”

DJAN added:“We didn’t and have no intention to place ban on Burna Boy’s music or any other artist.”

The clarification comes after reports suggested Nigerian DJs had removed Burna Boy’s tracks from playlists following a confrontation between him and DJ Tunez at a Lagos event.
