Burna Boy responds to being cancelled during tour

Grammy‑winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy has addressed claims that he is being “cancelled” while on his North American No Sign of Weakness tour.

Speaking to fans at a recent concert in Toronto, he asked: “Who else has done a tour while being cancelled?”

The comments come after a video from a November show in Denver went viral, showing Burna Boy stop his performance mid‑set to ask security to remove a female fan and her companion after he noticed the woman sleeping in the front row.

He said: “Take her home. Wallahi, I’m not doing another song until you go home.”

The woman later shared that she had been exhausted following personal loss, which added to the public reaction. Social media users questioned his handling of the situation and discussed respect between artists and audiences.

In the days after the incident, ticket sales at some tour stops were reported to be lower than expected, and two concerts in Minneapolis and Chicago were officially cancelled. Ticketing platforms showed the dates were removed from sale, and fans were notified of refunds.

Burna Boy has since addressed the controversy publicly. At a recent show in Dallas, he paused to apologise, saying his earlier remarks were a “slip of the tongue” and expressing regret for how the situation unfolded.

In other comments on social media, he stood by parts of his reaction to the Denver incident and defended his expectations of concert etiquette, writing that he would “gladly be cancelled” rather than tolerate what he felt was disrespect.
