Burna Boy explains why he ejected sleeping couple from concert

Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy has defended himself after ejecting a couple he spotted asleep during his No Sign of Weakness tour in Colorado.

The incident, which went viral, sparked widespread discussion online, intensified after an Instagram live session where Burna Boy stated he only wants supporters who buy his tickets.

He said, “Did I tell you to be my fan? I am only looking for money. This period is a treacherous period.”

In a series of now-deleted Instagram posts, Burna Boy expanded on his position, claiming there is a “long-time public agenda against me.” He defended removing the couple, likening it to ejecting a disruptive passenger from a flight or a student being sent out of a classroom.

Burna Boy expressed disapproval of being treated like mere entertainment, saying he would “gladly be cancelled if we are now in a world where you can treat me like a stripper, slap my a** and tell me to keep dancing cuz you throw $100 at me.”

He also clarified that he does not dislike his fans, explaining that his “I am only looking for money” comment was made in jest. He added, “I love who loves me and respect who respects me.”

The singer said he has built a mental block to prevent public tantrums from affecting him. While standing by his feelings on the incident, he offered a conditional apology, acknowledging his humanity: “I sincerely apologize if I’m wrong, I’m not always right but I feel right about this. Anyway I’m just human so f**k me.”

He concluded by criticizing the public’s biased focus on controversies: “They never post any of the good I do in this world, but they go wild and viral when they feel I’ve finally ‘fu***d up’. I’ve seen people who NEVER even acknowledged my existence before now posting how ‘This is Not cool’ or writing think pieces on me now.”

Burna Boy’s strict stance isn’t new. Fans recall his abrupt exit from the 2025 Greater Lagos Countdown concert after a fan jumped on him, citing PTSD, and another incident in Zambia where he removed a fan who allegedly tried to steal his ring.
