Singer Burna Boy has confirmed that he has converted to Islam.
The artist’s change of faith trended online after a video circulated showing him using the Arabic phrase “Alhamdulillah,” meaning “Praise be to God,” while speaking about life and creation.
The clip sparked widespread discussion among fans and commentators. The initial social media post was shared by fashion entrepreneur Rahman Jago, who wrote, “He converted. He is now a Muslim.”
Before Burna Boy’s own statement, former presidential aide Bashir Ahmad responded to a fan about the situation, saying, “Some people close to him said he converted to Islam, but there has been no official confirmation directly from him yet.”
Burna Boy later addressed the matter himself during a livestream with streamer Plaueboymax. In the session, he spoke about his spiritual journey and shared his views about creation from his current perspective.
Burna Boy was raised in a Christian family and has previously spoken publicly about his reflections on life and belief.
