Burna Boy cancels two US tour shows amid fan backlash

Grammy-winning Afrobeat star Burna Boy has cancelled two stops on his United States tour, including tonight’s show in Minneapolis, following a fan controversy that sparked widespread criticism.

The cancelled dates are:

  • 28 November 2025 — The Armory, Minneapolis
  • 1 December 2025 — Chicago

Burna Boy shared a screenshot of the updated ticketing page on his Instagram Story on Thursday, showing the two dates removed. Organisers confirmed all other tour dates remain unaffected.

The cancellations come after a viral incident in Colorado, where Burna Boy reportedly stopped his performance to eject a front-row couple after noticing the woman asleep. Critics pointed out that the woman had recently suffered a personal loss and many called the act insensitive.

During a subsequent Instagram Live, Burna Boy defended his actions, insisting he only wants “supporters who buy tickets and stay engaged throughout the show.” The comments intensified public backlash, with some fans reportedly boycotting upcoming concerts.

While no official reason for the cancellations has been given, insiders suggest the backlash and potential dip in ticket sales may have influenced the decision. Refunds for affected shows are reportedly being issued.

The rest of the “No Sign of Weakness” tour remains on track, but fans in Minneapolis and Chicago are left disappointed as the controversy continues to follow the star.
