Burial arrangements concluded for Michael Effiong’s wife Oluwakemi James

The family of businesswoman Oluwakemi James has announced that her burial will take place on March 31 and April 1, 2026.

In a statement on Sunday, her husband, Michael Effiong James, said the funeral rites will begin with a service of songs on Tuesday, March 31, at Stella Hall of Daystar Christian Centre, Ikosi Road, Oregun, Lagos, from 4pm to 6pm.

The funeral service will hold the following day at the same venue between 10am and 11am, after which interment will take place in a private ceremony for family members.

Mrs James, fondly called Kemi, died on March 12, 2026. She was born on July 29, 1972 to Army Captain Yemisi and Ololade Oyediran.

She attended primary school in Shomolu, Lagos, before moving to Shepherdhill Girls High School, Obanikoro, from 1984 to 1986, and later Federal Government Girls College, Oyo, from 1986 to 1990.

She studied at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Ogba, Ikeja, from 1994 to 1996, and later obtained a Higher National Diploma from Yaba College of Technology between 1997 and 1999.

Her early work experience included industrial training at First Bank of Nigeria Plc, Ikeja Branch, where she worked in the savings department. She also worked as a reporter and researcher at African Concord Magazine.

Mrs James later worked at Modern Design and Associate in Ikeja in the proof reading and finishing department.

She completed her National Youth Service Corps in 2000 at the Lagos State Printing Corporation.

After her service year, she worked as a marketing executive at Swift Freight International Nigeria Limited for three years before starting her own business.

She founded Limelight Caterings Limited, building it from a small operation serving family and friends into a business that handled corporate and private events.

She was known for her focus on healthy cooking and use of organic materials. She is survived by her husband and two children, Kufreabasi and Anietientebasi.

Her husband is a former editor of Ovation International Magazine, now senior special assistant (Lagos liaison) to the Akwa Ibom State governor.
