Former Big Brother Naija housemates Bisola Aiyeola and Mercy Eke have spoken about how the reality TV show changed the course of their lives and careers.

The duo, along with show host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, shared their thoughts in a video posted on Instagram, recorded during Ebuka’s birthday celebration in Lagos.

Bisola, who was first runner-up in the 2017 edition of the show, said BBNaija gave her the platform to achieve her dreams faster.

“Big Brother Naija escalated the success that I knew I was going to have either way, but the reality show took it like zillion steps faster to the top,” she said.

Mercy, who made history as the first female winner of the reality show in 2019, said her participation transformed her completely.

“Big Brother Naija changed me, changed my brand, changed my whole existence. I think you can see it right here,” she said.

Host of the show, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, also reflected on how Big Brother helped him discover his passion for television.

“It [BBNaija] definitely made me a TV presenter. I was never going to be doing this… Without BBNaija, I wouldn’t have a career in television today,” he said.

Since leaving the Big Brother house, Bisola has gone on to become an award-winning actress, producer, TV presenter and entrepreneur. In 2018, she won the AMVCA Trailblazer Award and later launched a skincare line, Brown Girls Magic.

Mercy Eke, on the other hand, has built a strong brand as an actress, influencer and businesswoman. She is the founder of MNM Luxury and Lambo Homes, and was one of the contestants in the 2023 All-Stars edition of the show.

Ebuka, who first appeared on the show as a housemate in 2006, has become a household name in media, anchoring BBNaija since 2017 and hosting several other television programmes.
