Former vice president of Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as Winners Chapel, Bishop Thomas Aremu, made an appearance at Shiloh 2025, more than a year after his retirement from the church.
Shiloh is an annual programme of the church founded by Bishop David Oyedepo.
The 2025 edition began on Monday, December 9, and will end on Sunday, December 15, at Faith Tabernacle, Canaanland, Ota.
Bishop Aremu received a loud ovation when he came on stage to lead a prayer session on Tuesday night and later gave a sermon on Wednesday morning.
His appearance marks his first public participation in a major church event since his retirement in October 2024, alongside Bishop David Abioye, another vice president of the ministry.
QEDNG previously reported that both clerics retired in line with the operational guidelines of the Liberation Commission, which serves as the church’s constitution.
The revised mandate set the retirement age at 58, down from 60.
While Bishop Oyedepo retains the privilege of lifelong service, future leaders will be limited to one or two seven-year terms, subject to approval by the board of trustees.
Aremu, aged 67, transitioned from a career in accounting to full-time ministry and was one of the eight foundational members of the church in 1983.
He began active service in 1984 and was ordained bishop in December 1999.
Following his retirement, he stated that he had no plans to start a new church, unlike Bishop Abioye, who unveiled his ministry, Living Word Conquerors Global Assembly, in May.
Thomas Aremu may continue to serve in another capacity under the church’s elongated service scheme, which includes about 33 clerics who have continued active ministry after retirement.
