Filmmaker Biodun Stephen has returned to Agege, a place she says shaped her storytelling, as she prepares to release a new film.
The director shared a video of herself in the area on Instagram on Tuesday, reflecting on her journey and hinting at a new project.
She captioned, “Back in Agege today—been a while. That market will always be a part of my story. It’s where so many of my characters were born, where the colors, voices, and moments first inspired the stories I tell.
“This year, I’m returning to where it all began… with a new film. Coming to cinemas soon.”
The 40-year-old did not reveal the title of the project or its release date.
Her return to Agege suggests the upcoming film may reconnect with the grassroots themes that influenced her early work.
She began her filmmaking career with The Visit in 2015 and has since directed a number of films across romantic drama and comedy.
Her credits include Picture Perfect, Tiwa’s Baggage, Sobi’s Mystic, Seven and a Half Dates, Looking for Baami, Breaded Life, Progressive Tailors Club, Aki and Pawpaw, Sista and Muri & Ko.
In recent years, she has also worked on projects such as Big Love and Different Strokes, maintaining a steady output in Nollywood while earning nominations and awards at industry events including the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards and the Best of Nollywood Awards.
Her latest announcement adds to anticipation around her next cinema release.
