Filmmaker Bimbo Ademoye has announced that monetisation has been fully restored on her hit film Where Love Lives on YouTube, days after it was taken off monetisation over a copyright claim.
Bimbo shared the update on Instagram on Thursday, saying the film had reached 19 million views. She thanked her supporters and her mother in the post.
She wrote: “Monetization has been fully restored on our film! And we’re now on 19 million views. I woke up today with a heart of gratitude especially towards my mother, my heart, my joy, my bestfriend @uduakisong1. Whenever I text ‘mommy see o’ she leaves whatever she’s doing to ensure I’m ok. I said ‘I don’t know what I’d do without you,’ she said ‘I’d always be here no matter what.’ I love you mommy. And no matter how far I go, the warmth of your hug will always be home to me. To my cyber family, Are you tired of hearing me say I love you? Ha, don’t get tired o, because I’d never stop. I’m not perfect, but you love me regardless. Eniyan laso mi. Thank you so so much for always riding for me. I love you.”
Where Love Lives was reportedly demonetised about five days earlier after a man identified as Emmanuel Davies filed a copyright claim on a song used in the film. At the time, the project had already reached around 18 million views. The actress said the claim was false and put a large amount of revenue at risk.
Bimbo previously spoke about the issue in an emotional video when the demonetisation first happened, and the situation drew attention on social media. Many users weighed in on the challenges creators face with copyright systems on platforms like YouTube.
The copyright dispute has since been resolved in her favour, with YouTube lifting the false claim and allowing full monetisation to resume. The update marks a positive turn for the film, which continues to be one of the most watched Nollywood releases on the platform.
