Actress Bimbo Ademoye has raised an alarm after a man identified as Emmanuel Davies, also known as Lagos Sound, allegedly took soundtracks from her movie Where Love Lives and copyrighted them, leading to the film being demonetised on YouTube.
In a now deleted post on Saturday, Bimbo said she woke up to discover that her work had been hit with a copyright claim, which stopped her from earning money from the film.
She explained that Emmanuel Davies claimed ownership of a song used in Where Love Lives, a move that resulted in the movie being blocked from monetisation.
Bimbo, who appeared visibly distressed in the post, said the incident affected her mentally, physically and financially, coming after what she described as a very stressful week.
She accused the individual of taking a song created specifically for her movie by singer Ugochi, uploading it on streaming platforms, and then claiming ownership of it.
According to the actress, the song was never officially uploaded by the singer in order to avoid problems such as piracy.
Bimbo warned the man to take down the content and resolve the monetisation issue within one hour, adding that she wanted the issue documented publicly.
She said both the movie and the music were products of her hard work and described the alleged actions as unfair and damaging.
“I’m not one to threaten people but I’d place a bounty on your head and when I find you, you’d wish you never did this,” she said.
The incident came shortly after she celebrated the high viewership recorded by Where Love Lives.
