Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu has remembered her late husband, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, on what would have been their 31st wedding anniversary.

In an Instagram post on Wednesday, she wrote that 31 years ago, on November 12, 1994, they walked down the aisle together.

She described the day as one of the happiest in their lives and said it was a privilege to have loved and served him.

“This Day in History#weddinganniversary 12 November 1994. 31 years ago, Against all odds, We walked down the aisle together on one of the happiest days of our lives. Oga m, it’s another anniversary, another beautiful reason to celebrate your love…it’s you,” she wrote.

She continued, “It’s both a privilege to have loved you, and an honour to have served you. The memories shine through every season, but most especially on days like this. Ya diba. On that appointed day, our souls will be joyfully reunited, never to part again. Happy Anniversary, My Dearest.”

The couple married in 1994 when Odumegwu-Ojukwu was 61 and Bianca was 26.

Their marriage drew public attention because of the age difference and Odumegwu-Ojukwu’s profile as the former leader of Biafra.

They had children and remained married until his death in 2011.
