Being fat is not the problem, Eniola Badmus reflects on weight loss journey

Actress Eniola Badmus has shared a before-and-after photo of her body transformation, using the post to encourage her followers to embrace self‑worth regardless of size.

The 43‑year‑old posted the image on her verified Instagram page on Friday with a message about self‑acceptance and mental strength.

In her caption, she wrote: “I need you to hear this from me….being ‘fat’ is not the problem. Hating yourself is. Doubting yourself is. Believing you’re not enough is. That’s the real struggle.” She added that “Your size has never canceled your worth” and encouraged anyone choosing to lose weight to do so out of love for themselves, not because of external pressure. Eniola also urged people to value their bodies for what they have carried them through, saying: “Respect it. Thank it. Celebrate it.”

She described her own weight loss journey as one of consistent decisions over time, adding: “Transformation starts in the mind. I didn’t wake up one day different….I made small, consistent decisions. And guess what? You can too. If I can do it, you can absolutely do it.”

Eniola thanked her supporters, writing: “To everyone who has supported and celebrated my journey so far… I see you. I appreciate you. Your love means everything to me. Thank you for growing with me.”

Over the years, the actress has been open about her body transformation. In 2025 she marked her 43rd birthday reflecting on significant weight loss, moving from about 170kg to 90kg. She described the change as improving her health and wellbeing, allowing her to breathe better, sleep better, eat cleaner, and feel lighter both physically and spiritually.

She has previously shared that her weight loss journey was challenging, sometimes missing aspects of her former body’s fullness, while remaining committed to a healthier lifestyle.

Eniola Badmus is known for her roles in films such as Jenifa, Omo Ghetto and most recently Love and New Notes. She also serves as Special Assistant to the Speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.
