Former Big Brother Naija housemate Tacha Akide has come under heavy criticism over a resurfaced video in which she claimed that many people living in the United Kingdom are broke.
In the viral clip, Tacha, who recently relocated to the UK, said people living in Nigeria often believe those abroad are better off financially, but that is not always the case.
“The most broke people I have met are actually the people I met in the UK,” she said.
“You see those of you always having inferiority complex in Nigeria, thinking everyone here is rich, most people here are broke. Everyone is holding themselves. It is expensive as f*ck,” she added.
The reality TV star further stated, “Most people in Nigeria are living better off than most people in here” and warned that anyone planning to relocate to the UK should not do so based on the assumption that life would be easier.
The video has since sparked mixed reactions online.
An Instagram user wrote: “Do you work? Tacha what do you do for a living? … Can’t you buy a car? … Not even an influencer.”
Another user criticised the reality star, saying, “Very daft comment. You’ve only been in the UK 2 months, where did you get data to support your assertion?”
However, some came to her defence, with one person writing: “Earned 100k GBP a year there and hard to save 10k GBP of that in a year. … It was designed to be a leveler.”
Tacha moved to the UK in 2024 and has shared several updates about her life abroad on social media.
The reality TV star rose to fame during the 2019 edition of BBNaija tagged Pepper Dem.
