BBNaija star Queen Atang has confirmed that her one-year marriage to David Oyekanmi has ended.
The reality TV star revealed her new status in a now-deleted Instagram comment after a fan, @Makachrist, asked if she was still married because she was “too beautiful to be single”. Queen replied: “Single and unavailable.”
Her statement follows months of speculation about trouble in the marriage. Queen and her husband had unfollowed each other on Instagram, sparking rumours of a breakup. She also deleted all photos and videos from their wedding ceremonies.
In June, Queen attempted to dismiss the rumours, saying she deleted their photos to protect her marriage from social-media pressure.
“I was just trying to take my relationship off social media,” she said at the time, adding that the constant attention was affecting her home because women were sending messages to her husband.
Queen and David got engaged in February 2024 and completed their traditional, court and church weddings before the end of the year.
She had earlier said she received “three signs from God” before agreeing to marry him. Queen recalled that they first met during a beauty pageant in 2016 but she never imagined they would end up together.
Speaking on how she sought divine confirmation, she said: “I told God I needed three signs before going into this relationship. I saw two signs, but the third one did not come, and I told him I am not going into something I am not sure of. He said he is very certain that I am his wife.” She added that David securing a job after an interview served as the final sign.
