Former Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner Phyna has said she would no longer tell people to audition for the reality TV show, claiming it has lost credibility.
Speaking during a Twitch livestream, Phyna, whose real name is Ijeoma Otabor, explained that while the show can bring quick fame to housemates inside the Big Brother house, the attention often fades once they leave.
She said fans shift focus to new contestants, making it hard for former housemates to maintain the same level of interest.
“The steeze housemates do have on the show they don’t have it again, because it’s the same fan base that move from one to another, no new people, nothing new,” she said.
“And that aside, the show has lost credibility compared to the way it was before, because when you tell someone now that I came out of BBNaija, they won’t rate you like they do then.”
Phyna also warned that many assume appearing on BBNaija guarantees instant wealth or lasting fame, but life after the show can be challenging. Former housemates often face pressure to stay relevant and secure deals.
Her remarks have reignited discussions online about the reality of fame from TV shows, with many agreeing that exposure does not always lead to long-term success.
The BBNaija franchise remains one of Nigeria’s most watched shows, and Season 10, which ended in late 2025, attracted new contestants and audiences, even as debates about its value continue.
