Singer, actor and politician Bankole Wellington, known professionally as Banky W, turned 45 on Friday.
He marked the day with a post on his Instagram page, sharing photos of himself and writing: “Happy 45th birthday, Mr Wellington.
“The grey is showing, the wisdom is growing, and the gratitude is overflowing. Thankful for the man I’m becoming and for the grace that has carried me every step of the way. A mighty long way from where I started… and a mighty long way from finished. Thank you, Jesus. Also, send funds. School fees too dey cost. 😁😫”
His wife, actress Adesua Etomi‑Wellington, also celebrated him on Instagram, writing: “IT’S MY BEST-FRIENDS BIRTHDAYYYYYYY 💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽

Over the years, Banky W has released several albums, worked as an actor in Nollywood films including The Wedding Party and Sugar Rush, and built a career as a songwriter and entrepreneur.
In 2017, he disclosed that he had a successful surgery for skin cancer on his shoulder. Later that year, he married Adesua Etomi. They welcomed their first child, Hazaiah Wellington, in early 2021, and their second child in 2024.
Banky W has also been active in politics. He ran for the House of Representatives seat for Eti‑Osa Federal Constituency in 2019 and again in 2023 under the Peoples Democratic Party, but was unsuccessful in both elections.
