The visit took place at the Emergency and Trauma Centre of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi.

The crash occurred on Friday, on the Yashi–Yelwan Duguri Road in Alkaleri Local Government Area. Thirteen journalists were travelling in the NEDC convoy when the accident happened during the commissioning of projects across the state.

Governor Mohammed went round the hospital wards to see the injured journalists, who are receiving care from a medical team led by his personal physician. He expressed deep sympathy to the victims and their families, describing the incident as a critical moment in their lives. He assured them of the state government’s full support for a speedy recovery.

Earlier, the Secretary to the State Government, Aminu Hammayo, led commissioners and other officials on a sympathy visit to the injured journalists.

The NEDC also expressed condolences to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bauchi State Chapter, and the state government. In a statement, Abba Musa, the commission’s Head of Corporate Services, said the governing board, management, and staff described the incident as heartbreaking and prayed for the journalists and their families. The commission added that full support and care would be provided to the victims.

Among those injured were reporters and crew from News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), The Guardian, The Nation, NTA, Channels Television, Arise TV, AIT, Bauchi Radio Corporation (BRC), Bauchi State Television (BATV), and an online media outlet. Officials said no life was lost, and the injured were transferred to ATBUTH for specialised care.
