Publisher and editor-in-chief of Yes International! Magazine Azuh Arinze has been conferred with the Fellowship of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE).
The recognition was announced on the final day of the 21st All Nigeria Editors Conference (ANEC), held from November 11–14, in Abuja.
The conference, with the theme “Democratic Governance and National Cohesion: The Role of Editors,” brought together political, media and security figures.
President Bola Tinubu attended as Special Guest of Honour and spoke on the role of the press in national stability.
Governor Hope Uzodimma delivered the keynote address, highlighting the responsibility of editors in shaping democratic narratives and holding public office accountable.
Other speakers included Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris, Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi and former Chief of Defence Staff Lucky Irabor.
His Eminence, Saad Abubakar, Sultan of Sokoto, and Nduka Obaigbena co-chaired the event and commended the Guild for promoting professional standards.
After receiving the Fellowship, Mr Arinze said the honour reinforced the value of dedication and consistency in journalism.
“I am grateful to the Nigerian Guild of Editors, and I dedicate this honour to every journalist who wakes up daily to tell the stories that matter,” he said.
Arinze began his journalism career 30 years ago as an IT student at FAME Weekly.
He later worked at National Encomium, where he served as editor for eight years and at Reel Stars, where he also served as editor.
He currently leads YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine, known for its interviews across politics, business, media and entertainment.
He is also the author of nine books and mentors young journalists.
Azuh Arinze holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration, a BSc in Public Administration and a HND in Mass Communication.
He is also pursuing further studies.
