Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has awarded full scholarships to three schoolgirls following their remarkable victory at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Competition held in the United Kingdom.
The beneficiaries, Nafisa Abdullahi, Rukayya Fema and Khadija Kalli impressed judges at the international academic contest and have now received a life-changing scholarship from the Atiku Abubakar Foundation (AAF).
In a statement released on Thursday, the foundation described the gesture as a long-term commitment to supporting the girls’ educational aspirations.
“This isn’t just an offer for a few months of tuition; it’s a promise to cover their education from now until they graduate from university,” the statement read.
According to the foundation, the scholarship will fully fund the remainder of the girls’ secondary school education and continue through their university studies at any institution of their choosing, locally or abroad.
The TeenEagle Global Competition is an annual contest that celebrates outstanding academic performance, public speaking, and critical thinking skills among teenagers around the world.
The Nigerian team stood out for their confidence, brilliance and articulate presentation on education equity and innovation.
Speaking through his foundation, Atiku emphasised the importance of investing in girl child education.
“When you invest in the education of a girl child, you are invariably investing in the education of a prospective family and community,” he said.
The foundation also described the scholarship as both a reward and a symbol of hope, especially for children from underserved communities.
“For these girls, their achievement was a testament to their hard work. Now, the scholarship from the AAF is a powerful affirmation of their potential,” the statement added.
The AAF reiterated its mission to support quality education and empower vulnerable groups, especially young women, as a pathway to national development.
