Asisat Oshoala celebrates Nigeria’s first round of 16 appearance since 1999

Super Falcons star, Asisat Oshoala, has celebrated Nigeria’s first round of 16 appearance at the FIFA Women’s World Cup since 1999.

Nigeria qualified on Thursday courtesy of slots reserved for the best third-placed countries.

In an Instagram post on Thursday, the 24-year-old Barcelona forward celebrated the feat.

“Round of 16 baby 🦅🇳🇬🇳🇬,” she wrote.

The team led by Asisat Oshoala and captain, Desire Oparanozie, will face former champions, Germany, in Grenoble on Saturday.

The Super Falcons have become the second Nigerian female team to reach the knockout stages of the Women’s World Cup after the 1999 squad who reached the quarter finals.
