Singer Ahmed “Asake” Ololade has relocated to Los Angeles, United States to expand his music career internationally.

In an interview with Office Magazine, Asake explained that his move is about career growth, not leaving Nigeria. He said human ambition is the same everywhere.

“To be honest, it’s still the same thing. Humans are the same. People are trying to make it in Nigeria. People are trying to make it in America. People are rich in Nigeria. People are rich in America. People buy new houses every day in Nigeria. People buy new houses in America everyday,” he said.

He also spoke about how solitude helps him stay focused and connected to his creative process. Growing up, his parents’ love of music influenced his path into Afrobeats.

Asake’s move follows a trend of Nigerian artistes relocating to the United States, including Ayra Starr, who recently moved to New York City.

She said the city’s energy and large African community help her feel at home while she broadens her music career.

The 30‑year‑old rose to prominence with hits like ‘Omo Ope’ and ‘Mr Money with the Vibe’ and has performed across the United States and Europe. Industry watchers say relocating gives him closer access to collaborators and international markets.

He also recently left his former record label to establish his own imprint, Giran Republic, while maintaining global distribution.
