Arase transformed Nigerian police as IGP – Akpabio

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has expressed sadness over the death of former inspector general of police (IGP) and immediate past chairman of the Police Service Commission Solomon Arase.

In a statement issued on Monday by his special adviser on media and publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, Senator Akpabio described Arase as a professional who transformed the Nigerian Police Force during his tenure as IGP.

“I am deeply saddened by the news of the death of Dr. Solomon Arase, a gentleman and fine officer, a thoroughbred professional and consummate security expert who during his tenure transformed the Nigerian Police,” the Senate president said.

He extended condolences to Arase’s family, the Nigerian police community, the inspector general of police Kayode Egbetokun, governor of Edo State Monday Okpebholo and the people of Edo State.

Akpabio added, “Dr. Solomon Arase’s death was too sudden. He will be sorely missed because of his impactful life on society. I pray that God Almighty will have mercy on his soul and grant him eternal rest.”

Solomon Arase, who served as IGP from April 2015 to June 2016, died on Saturday, at Cedarcrest Hospital in Abuja at the age of 68.

He is survived by his family.
