Former Big Brother Naija housemate Antoinette Lecky, popularly known as Anto Lecky, has expressed appreciation over her appointment as the senior special assistant to Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo on tourism and creative economy.

Anto shared an official portrait on Instagram on Monday to mark the occasion. She thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve again, describing it as a chance to promote the culture and creative sector of Edo.

“I thank His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Executive Governor of Edo State, for the opportunity to serve him, my state and my country again in another capacity,” she wrote.

The reality TV star and media personality said her new role comes at a crucial time in Edo’s cultural journey, especially with the recent return of looted Benin Bronzes and plans to open new museums in the state.

“As the Senior Special Assistant… I have a great responsibility of contributing to the promotion of the rich culture of our great state,” she said.

“With the return of many stolen Benin Bronze, soon-to-be opened museums, and an ever growing entertainment industry, there is no better time for Edo State to be on the forefront of tourism and the creative economy in Nigeria and the world.”

Anto also described Edo as open to both local and international tourists and investors. She promised to collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure growth in the sector.

“As a proud Edo babe, in my official portraits, I am wearing the Gbogane fabric of my Etsako tribe located in Edo North and red coral beads which signify royalty, power, dominance, and protection,” she added.

The appointment was confirmed in a letter dated June 23 and signed by the secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor.

Before this appointment, Anto had served as special assistant on digital and new media to the Federal Minister of Steel Development.
