Big Brother Naija star Adekunle Olopade, known simply as Adekunle, drew reactions after asking actress Annie Idibia about her relationship status during a stage appearance at the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) in Lagos.
The moment happened while both were presenting an award. In a light exchange, Adekunle turned to Annie and asked, “Just before we present the award, I just wanted to find out, are you single?”
Annie responded with laughter and said, “He is a fine young man though, I’m not going to lie.”
Adekunle quickly added that he did not want to cause trouble, saying, “I don’t want a situation where someone runs up and slaps me off stage.”
Annie reassured him, replying, “You are safe.”
The exchange became more noticeable when Adekunle mentioned the name “Innocent,” a reference to singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, Annie’s estranged husband. Annie’s brief reaction to the name sparked conversations online.
Annie and 2Baba were married in 2012 and have two daughters together. In January 2025, the singer announced that their marriage had ended and confirmed that divorce proceedings were underway.
Months later, Annie publicly identified herself as single while presenting at the Headies Awards, where she also reverted to her maiden name, Macaulay.
The on stage interaction with Adekunle has since circulated on social media, with many viewers describing it as playful, while others linked it to Annie’s recent public statements about her personal life.
