Director-General of the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) Ali Nuhu has commended Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy Hannatu Musa Musawa for promoting Nigeria’s creative sector during her recent diplomatic tour of Asia.

On Saturday, Nuhu shared a video on Instagram showing moments of the minister’s trip with himself and other delegates in China and South Korea.

“Over the past few days, the Honourable Minister has been actively advancing Nigeria’s cultural diplomacy and creative economy across Asia,” he wrote, noting that her engagements reflected the country’s “rising influence” in the global arts and culture space.

In China, Musawa participated in the Golden Panda International Cultural Forum where she spoke on culture’s power to unite nations. She also met with her Chinese counterpart Sun Yeli to strengthen bilateral ties, enhance cultural exchange and explore educational opportunities.

The minister further engaged travel giant Trip.com on positioning Nigeria as a leading tourism destination.

While in South Korea, Musawa met with K-pop company Makestar and signed a memorandum of understanding with SOOP Co. Ltd, a global player in digital creation and livestreaming. The deal is expected to empower Nigerian creators, improve monetisation opportunities and open new investment channels.

Nuhu said the trip would also help revive film education exchanges between the National Film Institute and the Beijing Film Academy, as well as boost Nigeria’s efforts to preserve its audio-visual heritage.

He urged government to build on the partnerships by making the sector more attractive to investors.
