Alex Iwobi’s father Chuka Iwobi has denied reports that the Super Eagles and Fulham midfielder was a victim of a robbery.
The claim was addressed on Tuesday by former Super Eagles media officer Colin Udoh, who said he spoke with Iwobi’s father.
“I have just spoken to Chuka Iwobi, and he says there is absolutely no truth to reports that his son @alexiwobi was burgled,” Udoh said.
Quoting him, Udoh added, “Alex is fine and there was absolutely no attempt to burgle his house. He left for Turkey this morning in preparation for the friendlies.”
Mr Iwobi also said he had received calls over the report and described it as false.
The response followed reports that the Fulham FC midfielder was attacked at his home and robbed of items including watches, jewellery, phones, a laptop and cash.
Some reports also claimed the value of the items taken was up to £500,000 and that authorities had started an investigation.
The player’s family said the reports are false and that no such incident happened.
Alex Iwobi has made 25 league appearances this season, scoring four goals and providing three assists.
He has travelled to Turkey for international matches.
