Senate President Godswill Akpabio has sympathised with the family of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, the government, and people of Oyo State over the death of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin who died on Monday at the age of 90.
In a condolence message signed by his special adviser on media and publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, Senator Akpabio described the late monarch as a man of honour who lived a good life.
He noted that although Oba Olakulehin spent only a year on the throne, his reign had a lasting impact on traditional institutions in Oyo State.
“The Oba died at a time his wise and elderly counsel was most needed,” Akpabio said.
“On behalf of my family, the Senate and the National Assembly, I wish to express my deepest condolences to the family, friends, and subjects of the late Olubadan of Ibadan and the government of Oyo State, especially Governor Seyi Makinde,” he added.
Akpabio praised the monarch’s character and leadership, saying, “His integrity was never in doubt as he stood for the truth, justice and fairness.”
He prayed for God to grant Oba Olakulehin eternal rest and comfort his family during this difficult time.
