Senate President Godswill Akpabio has commiserated with Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo over the death of his father, Ahmed Ododo.

In a statement signed by his media aide Eseme Eyiboh on Wednesday, Akpabio described the death as a loss not only to the Ododo family but also to the entire people of Kogi State.

He said the late “Alhaji Ododo” was a committed Muslim, a caring and supportive father and a strict disciplinarian.

“At this time of grief, I pray that Almighty Allah will forgive Alhaji Ahmed Sani Ododo his shortcomings and grant him Al Jannatul Firdaus,” the Senate President said. “May Allah remain merciful to the family he left behind and grant them the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”

Akpabio, speaking on behalf of his family, constituents, the 10th Senate and the National Assembly, urged the governor to take solace in the rich legacies of his father.

Alhaji Ododo died on Monday, at the age of 83. He was buried the same day in Upogoro, Okene Local Government Area, according to Islamic rites.

President Bola Tinubu had earlier described him as a respected community leader “whose legacy is evident in the accomplishments of the children he nurtured.”

Vice President Kashim Shettima also led a federal delegation to Kogi to condole with Governor Ododo, praising the deceased as a man of deep faith and humility.

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, among other leaders, prayed for the repose of the late Ododo’s soul and for strength for the family.
