Godswill Akpabio

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has commiserated with the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Nentawe Yilwatda on the death of his mother, Lydia Yilwatda.

In a condolence message signed by his special adviser on media and publicity Eseme Eyiboh, Senator Akpabio said Mrs. Yilwatda, who died at 83, played key roles in the upbringing of her children.

He noted that together with her late husband, Toma Yilwatda, she trained her children who are now contributing to the development of society.

Akpabio said, “Mama Lydia will forever be remembered for her legacies as a pillar of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), particularly the women’s wing, and the mother of the national chairman of the ruling party. Mama’s death is a big loss to the Yilwatda family, the people of Plateau State and the entire nation.”

He added, “On behalf of my family, constituents, the 10th Senate and the National Assembly, I extend my condolences to our national chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, over this occurrence. I pray that the Almighty God will have mercy on Mama Lydia’s soul and comfort the family. May her memories be a source of strength and inspiration during this period of mourning.”

Lydia Yilwatda died on Sunday morning at the University of Jos Teaching Hospital at the age of 83.

Details of her burial arrangements are yet to be announced by the family.
